About Mindful Math

Transforming
Math Struggles
into Success Stories

Founded by Mary Walker, M.A. in Statistics and licensed math educator, Mindful Math is built on the belief that everyone can succeed in math — with the right approach.

Mary’s path from Division 1 soccer player to math professor taught her the value of perseverance, collaboration, and growth. As a parent who has navigated foster care, adoption, and learning disabilities, she deeply understands the importance of creating safe, supportive spaces for learning — especially for students who are anxious, neurodivergent, or facing personal challenges.

Whether it’s a high schooler struggling with algebra, an adult returning to school, or a child with dyscalculia discovering math through Mary’s custom-designed card game, the goal is always the same: to make math approachable, understandable, and even joyful.

At Mindful Math, we break down concepts into manageable steps, using science-backed methods to build not just math skills, but confidence, resilience, and curiosity. Mary’s teaching style — warm, patient, and tailored to each learner — is the foundation that every tutor on our team carries forward.

Friendly, but professional. She knows how to interact with students but remain on track and not bird walk. She’s patient and makes sure you understands the material, even if she needs to re-explain it in multiple ways.
